Kyalami Equestrian has been operating in the beautiful Huon Valley, just South of Hobart for 15 wonderful years. 

Our amazing team of school horses and ponies provide a broad range of experiences and learning options for riders of all age, ability, confidence level and experience. 

From a Shetland pony to a Clydesdale, well educated schoolmasters who have competed to high levels, super quiet children’s ponies,  and everything in between we can cater for all riders from complete beginners to advanced.

Anita Sward is the business owner and main coach, qualified Equestrian Australia Level 1 General Coach, through the National coaching accreditation scheme. 

We also have 4 other coaches, who are all working on their certificates within the National Coaching accreditation scheme and Equestrian Australia. Coaches all hold first aid certificates and working with vulnerable people cards. 

Services

Coaching/ Riding Lessons

Our experienced coaches provide lessons for beginners through to experienced riders where students are taking the horses out and competing, Kyalami is unique as all riders are expected to learn to catch, groom and tack up their horse as well as groom and put the horse away after they ride.

Adult Riders

We offer an extensive adult riders programme from beginners to experienced including those riders that have not ridden in many years. These riders are a great support group and there are regular social activities to enjoy as well.

Shared Leases

As your experience grows but your not quote ready for the responsibility of your own horse we offer shared leases. In addition to your regular lesson you can come ride and care for your horse. As you experience increases there is the opportunity to go to pony club and shows.

Riding for students with special needs

We provide special lessons for students with special needs and we also cater for clients with funding through the NDIS, please contact us to discuss options. 

Horse Care

Our horses are kept in private, semi-private and shared paddocks depending on needs. Our horses are Checked and fed at least twice a day. Horse have access to hay 24/7. Rugs are changed depending on the weather.All of our horses receive regular body work, routine veterinary work, expert farrier care. We have on call veterinary surgeons in case of emergency. Our horses have regular breaks on good pasture where they can just be horses.

Breeding Operations

We have two stallions Andelain Zantorian (Welsh Cob) and Arthur (Clydesdale) and a selection of quality mares. Our breeding goal is to produce quality ponies and horses with impeccable temperaments, outstanding conformation and performance qualities.

Young stock are occasionally available for sale.

Facilities

Kyalami Equestrian has extensive facilities. A 40x20m sand arena with lights and undercover viewing platform. A sand 20m round yard. Private, semi-private and group paddocks. Private paddocks with shelters. Stables and yards. Stallion paddocks and shelters. There is a clubroom and bathroom with tea and coffee making facilities. A bunkhouse for residential camps.

We love our horses

Our horses are a part of the family and most of them stay with us till they cross the rainbow bridge. All of our horses receive regular body work, routine veterinary work, expert farrier care. We give our horses and ponies a two week rest each school term, as well as a month long summer holiday on lovely pasture,  so that they all stay fresh and happy to spend time with their riders.
